After Horrible Bosses was a huge success, movie execs approached a sequel like it was a no-brainer. Turn down for what? It only makes sense money wise to build on something profitable. And the premise to these movies are oh so simple. We all hate our bosses, right? So, let’s kill them! I mean, it’s a perfect escape for moviegoers.
Like most movies that are sequels, the original was good. Horrible Bosses has a nice blend of comedic gags and a plausible enough plot for people to enjoy. Hopefully the same effort goes into the sequel. And hopefully they make it a little different than the original. Let’s not have this be a Hangover situation, where the sequel was exactly the like the first one, but being passed off as an original film.
Jason Sudeikis, Jason Bateman, and Charlie Day are all returning and are scheming something stupid again. Jamie Foxx seems to also be giving them terrible advice again. The always amazing Kevin Spacey returns, but is obviously in jail and is tanner? And then there’s Jen. Jennifer Anniston that is. Holy cow is she hot. And she’s 45 years old! Talk about Hollywood magic.
Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine are also in the cast, but are barely in the trailer. I can only speculate as to what their roles are, but it’s safe to say neither are a starship captain or a 17th century hit man. Waltz is in the trunk of a car with tape on his mouth and Pine is aiming a gun at someone. That’s all we see. But hey, maybe Kirk gets beamed up by Scotty and Dr. Schultz can retell the story of Brunhilde.
The next chapter in premeditated crimes hits theaters on November 26, 2014.
