The Disaster Artist

Sometimes movies are so bad, they are good. We all have movies like this. Movies that we know we should not enjoy, but god damn there is something that makes you love it. For me, I have a strong affinity for Bad Boys 2. It’s like 40 minutes too long and next to no plot, but Will Smith is peak Will Smith.

Anyway, The Room is one of these bad movies that people love. But what makes The Room different than the other run-of-the-mill bad movies is that this movie is downright awful. Every aspect of it is like if a fifth grader got their hands some legitimate movie equipment and then just had the people in the movie say what was on their minds. It is incoherent at the highest level and wrought with inconsistencies, like blatantly using the same sex scene twice.

The Disaster Artist is based on a book written by Greg Sestero, which gave a behind the scenes look at the making of the film. The cast for this movie is enough to get me way on board. To save time, I will just link the IMDb cast page, but I assure you that you will find someone on that list who you enjoy. And what this trailer does brilliantly is capture the fraught nature of the filmmaking process. How lead actor Tommy Wiseau could not deliver a line to save his life and exuded about as little charisma in his performance as thought possible.

The Disaster Artist hits theaters December 8, 2017. Get ready.
